Giving
One of the biggest contributors to the suffering of the world is inequality of resources. While tons of food waste are generated daily in one country, other countries starve. While billionaires get richer by the day, financial systems make the poor poorer. Even in this kind of a world we can be happy, free from suffering; but when we liberate ourselves from suffering, it is important to contribute to a world where it's easier for other people to be free from suffering.
The Buddha, prior to his passing, left this message to his followers:
"My body may pass, but the dharma will remain. There are four additional causes of blessings. What are the causes of blessings?
First is to sustain the life of those who are near death due to hunger,
Second is to comfort those who are in ill health,
Third is to console those who are alone in poverty,
Fourth is to offer alms to those who practice purely.
As long as you participate in these four causes, it is as if you offer alms to me, it is as if I remain with you."

The hungry should have food. The sick should receive treatment. Children should have access to education. These are the basic rights of every human being regardless of race, nationality, ethnicity, or religion. However, there are too many people who suffer because their basic human rights are not guaranteed. Amidst this human tragedy, JTS hopes to make a better world by helping those in need and giving them a light of hope.
